Dear NPC athlete and fan. I would like to tell you how Miles Productions handles the Judging for all the NPC shows here in Arizona. To be an AZ judge you first start by going to a judging clinic held every February. It typically takes about 3 hrs. We spend a large part of this time going over ethics as well as what we are looking for in an athlete whether it's bodybuilding, fitness, figure, bikini, or men's physique. We follow the guide lines given to us by the NPC. The next step for the new potential Judge is to test judge twice. If the candidate passes all criteria then they are certified as an Arizona NPC judge. Anyone can be a judge who successfully passes all these steps. My personal opinion is the athletes make the best judges. You know the sport better than any one and know what it is like to go through the rigorous training to be on stage. You will give each athlete the professionalism, time and respect they deserve.
Judging a NPC show is a very difficult task! I ask this question at all the prejudging meetings, "Have you and your significant other or friend ever agreed with each other on all the placements?" Or are you like my wife Kim and I "Hey babe are you blind how could you think that athlete is better than the one I picked out." In this sport unfortunately there is no finish line. Not everybody will agree! THERE ARE NO POLITICS!! All are welcome to judge. I do not know of a more fair way to do things. Please come to the next judging clinic, even if you do not want to be a judge. Its a excellent learning tool to see what the judges are looking for.
Thank you and remember stay a winner and stay with NPC
